View Full Version : How about now?

Well, after much time and effort, I've made most of the changes to my site that were recommended by others:

1) Added comments to each photo
2) Decreased the number of photos in each album to assist in load times
3) Changed the scroll bar colors so IE can display them more easily
4) Made the links to the main page constant for each album
5) Got rid of the extra space after each thumbnail
6) Added navigation at the bottom of each photo page

The last item I have yet to complete is making the thumbnails all the same size. Other than that, I think it's done.

Keep in mind that this site is mainly designed for family and friends. It's just a quick way for them to see some photos of the trips my wife and I take, along with family get-togethers. I wanted to keep it simple, yet look nice.

What do you think of the changes?

Thanks!

You should do that for the index page, too, just for consistency. ;)

Added comments to each photo

Yay! Now we know who these people are! I like photos!

The images are just fit on the screen at 1024x768 screen resolution, but anything less would need to scroll down to see the entire image. The "My Gallery" image in the upper left corner is difficult to read - very dark.

Looks good, though! Thanks for sharing the cool pics! :)

Thanks. I forgot to upload the new styles.css file for the main page.

I purposely designed the site for 1024x768. Anything smaller and the photos just aren't the same anymore. I've checked and everyone I know uses at least that size screen resolution so I know they'll be able to look without having to scroll.

The "My Gallery" is too dark? Hmmm... It's bold black text on a light gray background. Since I'm into photography I have had all my monitors calibrated. Maybe your monitor shows a little less contrast or brightness? Hard to say.

Thanks again for looking. I appreciate your time and thoughts!

I agree. Looked fine to me! :)

Each of my monitors looks different to me. My son uses the laptop, so I don't have too worry about the colors appearing lighter. But he fooled with the monitor settings on my 19 inch and maybe this one is STILL not calibrated correctly. I tried to fix it, but I have vision problems.

So maybe it is my problem. I will experiment with the settings again. Thanks.

Hey, I saw gray, then it looked like a darker image appeared under the text. Am I going crazy?

Am I going crazy?
No comment! :p

The graphic below is a simple way to see if your monitor is seeing the contrast and brightness correctly. None of the individual squares should blend into another. I use it often to make sure things are not too bright or dark.

Thanks again!

I have used that same grayscale and numerous other calibration methods, but I have vision problems. The black squares do seem to blend together, but I have trouble adjusting the colors to compensate. The brightness and contrast are at 100%. The Red, Green and Blue are all set around 50. But it doesn't look right. Maybe I can get someone who can see to adjust it for me. Thanks.
