So much for me trying to advertise PowWeb and their Zero Down Time ads. My FTP has been down for about 12 hours now and counting. I had a post pointing my problem out already in this forum but the whole thread was deleted. I don't think I need to explain why I need my FTP, but I am about to call PowWeb and complain for the first time in 3+ years of using their services. Could someone email me when the FTP service comes back on-line, or if I have to make any minor changes. webmaster@msmcs.net

Have you tried the server name for your hostname in OPS>FTP ...?
And tried your domain name ...?

I tried everything last night & nothing worked. I tried the following hot names...
jupiter.powweb.com
www.msmcs.net
ftp.msmcs.net
msmcs.net
I tried putting the check by Pasive and then with out it. I will try them all again just incase PowWeb mad one of them work. But why would I have to guess on how to set things up?

My ftp.sitename.com no longer works.
I also switched mine to jupiter.powweb.com, but it worked.
What about us people on the road that USED to be able to access FTP by using a browser???............That doesnt work AT ALL!!!!

I found that I have to use your (powweb) server name to ftp into my account. Using my own domain name does not work for me (worked yesterday morning though!)

Ok, jupiter.powweb.com now works. Thanks for the help. I hope next time PowWeb makes changes, they could at least notify me (their members) instead of me having to come here and search for an answer.
Does not work>>>>>> webftp

Ad it doesnt workAnd they used ...
host name: servername.powweb.com ...replace servername with actual server name in OPS>FTP
Also try reseting their password in OPS and give the server 15/20 minutes to update.
If it still does not work ... get with support
Hi mhhp,
Check your email. I've reset your password for testing purposes. Please reply back to me if you still have problems.
What I fought and referred to in the deleted thread was: Whatever your server name has been doesn't mean that is what it is now. I kept using pulsar since that's what it's been for
years.....finally looked in the OPS and saw that it's now jupiter. Granted the posts said to check in OPS but when you've been using what WAS in ops for a number of years you tend to think all remains constant. Wrong.

RancherThe changes from pulsar to jupiter were posted in announcements some time ago. The first place to check if something isn't working is in the announcements part. They frequently don't announce changes beforehand, but they do usually acknowledge they've been made, eventually.
Thank you, Ian, for bringing that to my attention. Everything DID work fine until yesterday. Yes, I do check the announcements and this board every day just trying not to miss something. Last change I knew of was using your domain instead of the server....did that and all was well. I was not complaining, just thought maybe I could help someone else who hadn't got it figured out yet....

FTP through the browser still works for me with the following
* In the address bar, enter ftp://server.powweb.com (use the host name shown in OPS)
* Wait a few seconds for the error message about not allowing anonymous FTP then select the File menu and choose Login As...
* Enter your FTP username and password, click OK.
* Once in, add the site to your Favorites to make it quicker next time.
