There has been a lot of confusion concerning FTP lately with the recent changes.

Those of you who are on legacy machines (ie. lunar, io, jupiter, etc..), these machines are now load balanced. You can no longer connect by default using ftp.yourdomain.com. You will need to connect directly to the server hostname.

If you are having FTP problems, I highly advise you check to see what server you are on anyways for future reference. You can find the FTP server hostname in OPS>Hosting Packages>Website>FTP

I am also hearing/seeing a number of people connecting to old legacy servers which have been combined. If you are connecting to anything other than what is listed below, then you need to check which server you are on and make the correction in your ftp application.

asteroid.powweb.com
io.powweb.com
jupiter.powweb.com
lunar.powweb.com
terra.powweb.com
magnatar.powweb.com
andromeda.powweb.com

If you would like this feature to work again, you will need to create a CNAME.

To create a CNAME:

-Login to OPS (http://ops.powweb.com)
-Click on 'Hosting Packages' at the top
-Click on the blue 'DNS' link
-On the row for CNAME, input 'ftp' as the alias and then for the hostname, you should input the ftp servername with a period at the end. You must have the period or it will not work and/or cause the zone to drop.

Once the CNAME is created, please wait for DNS to reload and for the change to propagate.
