Hello
I have uploaded an MP3 of mine to my site for people to download.
But when testing it, it automatically STREAMS instead...
- and "save as" (with a right click) doesnt come up as an option...
I'm wondering why and if the problem is with the way I've posted it or the browser (IE)?
Thanks for any help
Dan
Do you have the URL of the mp3/the page that has the mp3?
Everytime I've done that, right-clicking worked.

If you click on the url for a music file, the default action for some browsers is to "stream" the file using the default media player for that specific file type.
If you have a link to a mp3 file and want do download it, Right-Click and Save As... should appear on IE, it's a default action.

I'm stumped.
I know it SHOULD allow "save target as" with a right click...
...but it's NOT for some reason... :(
These are 2 seperate pages I'm having this trouble with.
This one has a few differnt formats of streaming and then the one
with the download icon is straight MP3 and should be able to be downloaded.

This one has the same problem even with just a text link instead of an icon:
(its the medley at the bottom)

I just don't get it. Maybe if someone out there DOES show a "save target as"
I'll know there's something wrong with my IE ?
You might want to try to ZIP the mp3 then up-load the archive.
A right click on the download icon (the icon with the red vertical arrow) gives me a "Save As..." submenu in the pop-up menu.

A right click on the download text link gives me a "Save As..." submenu

That is all I can tell you :(

So "save target as" comes up as an option for you ???
I wonder why it doesnt for ME then...
Anyone know? Or how I can change whatever setting is doing that to me?

Well, there is something, the link on the "mp3" icon points to a m3u playlist, this provokes streaming. If you linked to the mp3 directly then it WILL work.

yes, but that one is supposed to be like that...
there's 3 that are supposed to stream - one in Real - one in WMA and one for M3U
But the NEXT one over with the download icon is for downloading the file.
So it seems to work for people, thats good.
But I'm wondering what MY problem is though (with my IE browser I guess)...

yeah, just noticed that... bonehead aboard! lol
And yes, it does display correctly, must be a setting in your computer. Have you tried it on another computer?

no, havent tried it.
but atleast I know it'll work for others...
Just gotta figure out how to fix my OWN setup...
I was searching around and found this: http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/view.phtml/aid/32569/fid/53
I haven't tested it, but if it works it should make "Save Target As" the default action when left clicking the download icon. And yeah, when I right-click any of them I get the menu with "Save Target As" on it.

You could try removing the target attribute and just have
<A href="http://www.danmacaulay.com/music/dMAC_radio_spotlight_high.mp3">
and that should work.
