That should not matter. Both should work.

http://alphadesk.net

http://www.alphadesk.net

But yours don't. If someone can't come up with an answer you may need to get with support.

Check in OPS for a CNAME entry called www.

If it's not there it's the culprit. It should be installed by default by Powweb.

To install it, just define the hostname as www and assign it to essedco.com. <- IMPORTANT!!!! Note the trailing dot after "com". IT'S REQUIRED!

You may have to wait up to 12 hours for it to become effective.

esccanada,

bottom row in DNS table Alias: www

never noticed it and did not know till now it had to be like that to work with both.

Yeah, www is nothing more than a CNAME. That's why I have to laugh when a host brags about giving you both yoursite.com and www.yoursite.com.

It's only a simple CNAME entry, nothing really hard for them to add, yet they boast about it like it's really hard to setup :)

esccanada is correct, as that it might take some time for the www to kick in.

ok. I know that you all said it shouldn't matter but... it doesn't and it's still not working... :( I feel like I'm going to be dealing with a whole lot of of people who may not understand the internet that well & everyone understands www I guess for now on my card.. (which is the big problem here) I can put go to essedco.com and it should work .. but I like www. because I'm going to be world wide. (not that http:// isn't .. ) I won't settle for less.. :( I hope we can have this worked out by Monday. Powweb has 24 customer service right??

thanks for being so helpful you all.:)

I'm not showing any DNS entry at all for essedco.com.
Now this could be a DNS server issue on my end but most likely there's a problem with your DNS record.

It's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that the hostname www end in a period.

You posted that you saw "www" as the CNAME but is it really "www." ?

[DNS LESSON]
The dot is a delimiter to DNS. Technically all domains should be accessed with a trailer period but this is hidden.

i.e. www.mydomain.com is technically searched for in the following order:

. -> "Who deals with the root domain?"
com. -> "Who deals with the com TLD?"
mydomain.com. -> "Who deals with mydomain.com?"
www.mydomain.com. -> "Who deals with the host name www?"
[/DNS LESSON]

If you still have problems, PM me your password and UID and I'll take a look.

Please PM me your OPS username/password and I'll look into this issue for you.

I've run as many diagnostics as I can from here and determined that there is a problem with Powweb's MAGNATAR server.

Seems that you and someone else are having the exact same problem.

Your "www" CNAME is configured correctly but Magnatar is not picking it up.

Fire off an email to support@powweb.com to inform them of the issue.

They're the only ones who can help at this point.

Sorry.

Ok. I'm better now.. it's working. YAY. Thank you all so much for helping me.. :) I think I might like these POWWEB people.. :) They seem to be very economical and I can learn to be a little more patient. :)
