Someone hacked my web page and put a java script on the page so my flash graphic would not load thereby generally closing the entrance to my site. I've corrected the page but how can I keep this from re-occurring????
thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by, "Someone hacked my web page".
The only way someone could change your web page is to modify the page on the server.
Then only way your site could be "hacked" was if you supplied someone w/ the username e and password, or if you’re using MS FrontPage (which can be full of security holes that hackers can exploit easily).
Another way is improper permissions. Make sure that you never set anything CHMOD 664 or higher (this means CHMOD 777 is a no no). Setting your permissions w/ group writable or world writable means anyone w/ the know-how can edit you pages as they sit on the web server w/out having to log into the server.
To make your site secure, uninstall your MS FrontPage extensions (if you use them) and then change all your passwords (including the one you use for Ops). Then, make sure all your text files are set CHMOD 644.

Someone inserted a java script at the top of my index page which stopped my flash graphic from popping up. I don't use Front Page. I have built the site with html and with Dreamweaver.
I cannot figure out how it was done.. only know it was...
Suggestions please...
I have lock it on the site.... which someone helped me install when I first came to Powweb but now I don't remember how it works either.
I am somewhat of a novice, so no long tech terms please.....
thanks for the responses
