View Full Version : Our web is up for review
Hello all
We just recently set up an account through the server and put together a web site for our commercial buisness. Please check it out and let me know if you see any problems or any ways to make it better.
The web address is www.advancedaircareinc.com
Thanks
My two cents' worth:
I'm not crazy about that font on the home page (Viner Hand ITC or something like that?), which won't show up for some potential viewers anyway. I didn't see where you specified an alternative, more common font. Anyway, it's hard to read.
Generally speaking, non-creative businesses stick to a more typical color scheme with a white/light background. As I assume you aren't selling "creative" HVAC (igloos, perhaps?), I'd suggest you stick with something that goes better with your very attactive (and encouraging) BBB logo at the bottom. There's nothing wrong with the color scheme; it just isn't consistent with the content of your site.
If you are going to keep it, though, the menu buttons in black and white don't seem to fit.
The logo is a little flashy, too. I'd tone it down by perhaps keeping the stone look but getting rid of the purple neon glow, making the background transparent, so that the background shows through between the letters. Then, I'd tone down the background; even if you keep the black/dark thing going, I'd make it a more uniform (smaller) pattern or a solid color.
I'd get rid of the utensil clip art on the "commercial kitchen" page, either by replacing it with something better or just leaving it out. The chef, however, currently fits in with your color scheme, and I wouldn't get rid of him unless you decide to change your colors.
I don't know how much you can customize your forum, but I'd customize it to match the site as much as possible. (But I could make a really good argument for customizing your site to match the forum, not vice versa.) Also, do you anticipate enough traffic coming through to have active threads in all of those categories?? I'd keep it to two or three at first and expand as your site gets more traffic. Psychologically speaking, you'll look more successful to your viewer if you have a few forums that are busy than a lot of forums that look empty, even if the same number of threads are there.
Hope this helps,

I think a bit or tweaking would make this site much better.
First off, I would get rid of the marble looking background image. I would stick with a solid color. (I typically prefer either black or plain white). Keep things simple and sleek and a solid color scheme will help.
I think your logo should be done over. I would stay away from purple and the funky color scheme. Try to keep things a bit simpler. Personally I would respond better to a simple font, bold, maybe with a drop shadow on a white page. Clean and crisp. The logos also don’t blend with your background making them look as if they were glued to the page. It might look better if you changed you background to black. This also goes for the “24 hour emergency service” logo.
A picture of your company’s building (or maybe your van or truck) on the front page might ground the site a bit more.
I think a question form might work very well on this site. What I mean by this is a simple place where a customer can explain his problem or situation (relating to AC, etc.) on a form, hit summit and you will have a potential customer. I think many people would rather get a quote in this way rather than using the phone and calling. The message board looks quite bare and intimidating.
Lastly, looking at your front page I’m still not sure what exactly you do. I think it would be better if you had a sentence stating something like this… Advanced Air Care and Specialty Equipment is a company specializing in managing air control systems of all kinds. etc, etc…
Hope this helps

Knee jerk reaction... Aaargh! It looks like an illegal warez site or something. You ought to be more careful, you could cause migraines with a colour scheme like that! I was on your page for all of a nanosecond, the time it took to reach the little X in the top right hand corner and I'm still feeling nauseated... what on earth are you presenting on there?!
Sorry but that's how it struck me... Why don't you come back to us when you've listened to some of the critiques above that people have invested time and effort in and that you appear to be ignoring, almost in their entirety!
