Stop the Index

I am trying to get my homepage up but the web site index appears instead. I thought I should use the ".htaccess" Options -Indexes to turn this off. Am I wrong or should the page called index.html work alone?

.htaccess file with Options -Indexes is located in the htdocs folder right now.

It appears that you have turned all viewing off.

"HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
Internet Explorer"

Rename the .htaccess for for the time being and re upload index.html and lets see what you get.

Have changed the files as you suggested, still get the Index page up instead of the "index.html" page

Rename Index.html to index.html no cap.

Remember this in the future. Get in a habit of not using caps for your file names and no spaces. This is a Unix system and the file name is case sensitive.
