Has anyone had any luck using one of the recommended windows applications for administering your mySQL database?

I'm trying to use Mascon (http://www.scibit.com/Products/Software/Utils/Mascon.htm), but can't get it to find my database on pluto.powweb.com . I'm using the default port (3306) and tried both my powweb and database id/password. The error is your basic "could not connect".

Any ideas?

I'm using Mascon, I wasn't able to connect with the free version but after purchasing the full version I've had no problem.

My client's site is on Pluto also, the hostname (pluto.powweb.com) appears to be correct and the port (3306) is correct also.

Silly question I know, but you did send Powweb the $30 to set up MySQL for your site, right? :)

Ok, assuming you have done that and you are using the full version of Mascon (if not I think you can download a time limited demo to check it), I would double check the username/password... seems like you've got all the other bases covered.

Thanks Bud. I do have mySQL set up already with Powweb. Did you get any explanation from Scibit as to why the free version of Mascon couldn't connect, but the registered version worked?

Also, have you found that Mascon is worth the $49?

Thanks.

To tell you the truth, the free version is pretty limited in certain areas and I was so impressed with it's potential abilities that I went ahead and bought the full version after only trying to connect the free version a couple of times, I may have just had the settings wrong.

Yes, imho, it is well worth the money if you need to do much manual maintainence to your databases. I have a lot of clients that I've set up databases for with different providers and Mascon allows me to have one interface to access them all. And it's a breeze to set up tables as compared to the tedious job of typing out long create statements, plus it's got a lot of handy features.

I don't recommend software very often but I do like Mascon :)

Never had a problem even with the trial version. Always was able to connect.
Review your connection options carefully.
They seem to respond quickly to questions at:

The new version is SUPER. Just now began attempting to learn/employ it.

Cool interface - I believe it will take SOME of the fear from THIS MySQL novice.

Try the e-mail - I'd be willing to bet they'll help ya out rather quickly.
