View Full Version : mysql03 very slow & frequent 'error: Too many connections'
Hi
I've been suffering from my forum getting extremely slow lately
My database is in mysql03, and 'mySQL error: Too many connections' shows up too frequently, specially today.
Anyone else experiencing the same issues in mysql03?
Powweb announced in the outage forum that there are issues in mysql09 only.
I hope they make a similar announcement on mysql03 to update us on whats going on there too...
My database was corrupted a couple of days ago, and I had to delete it!!
I had to restore from an older backup. But a few hours later after I finished restoring, ...weird symtoms, like resetting forum statistics every few minutes by itself, and taking ages to send anything to the database, are showng up again...plus this 'too many connections' showing too often.
I hope they do make an announcement.

Not using forums, but a generic database for my management system. Extremely slow, site down messages at random times (unable to connect to database) and also on mysql03.

Ditto.
Also on mysql03.
Also experiencing 25+ "failed to connect" errors per day.
Also seeing random/intermittent delays in page loading -- delays ranging from 30 to 150 seconds -- on perhaps one page load in every ten.
vBulletin "micro stats" in the page footers attribute 99.5+ percent of the delays to mySQL (rather than to PHP).
I reported the problem by phone to "Peter" yesterday afternoon.
Got an e-mail this morning from "Nick" telling me that they're aware of problems with mysql09.
No acknowledgement that they're even LOOKING at mysql03, or that they even admit there's a problem.
Disappointing response from tech support so far.
'Nick' told me in his email that he restarted it, and that they're "currently
monitoring this server and 09 to see what the problem is."
That was several hours ago, but no improvement yet ...

Bill,
I'm running vBulletin 3.0.7 and was wondering how you turn on the "micro stats" feature. or, it that a "hack" option you installed ??
Thanks
Ok, have had many people call and say they can't get into my site or it's taking a long time - 30 seconds + to open any one page... Is someone truly looking into this?
I hope so. I am having the same problem with our forums. They are running on mysql03. Random error of too many connections. http://www.rdracingproducts.com/forums/index.php?act=idx
I have not heard of any problems yet with our store which is on mysql06 but nobody was in the office this weekend to check the store email. I'll know more on that tomorrow.

Is the trick going to be... Create 5 databases.... when one stops responding, back up the data and upload the data to one of your other 4 sql databases and modify the code on your site?
My forum in mysql03 is still extremely slow. Clicking anything takes more than 30 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes!!! even if going to the index page...
Why no admin or any powweb official is replying??

This is a community forum - admins might take a peek every once in a while, but no guarantees. I notice they've acknowledge problems with mysql09 in the Outages forum at http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=49780 - but you're probably better logging a support call via support@powweb.com - list your domain and mysql server.
Otherwise they might never know about it. There's nothing we can do about it as users.

lol mitchind, I don't recall that I was addressing you in person..
This topic is for users who have a database in mysql03. Without starting it, I couldn't have known that its affecting everyone in that server. Thats what a community forum is for, among many other friendly benefits. Actually, this forum is one of powweb's unique advantages.
I did contact support, not just once but about 12 times.
For some odd reason, they didn't reply to many of them...
Yes, they posted that announcement regarding 09, but no official word yet on 03
Perhaps this topic might convince them to at least make an aknowledgement post.
Post goes to public because someone has already sent in private help tickets... which never get read for 2+ days. I know.. Mine never were read for 3+ days, so I closed them.
The problem here is the servers. I don't have a high traffic site, but I'll be damned if any of my customers come looking for me to do business for them and my site is down or takes 20 minutes to open the index page. Where is this 100% uptime. It's starting to get to me now it is affecting MY POCKETS.

That's because the problem doesn't exist.
It's a figment of all our imaginations. :)

Well, I am happy to report that today the problem did not show up!
Just a little slow, but hey... I can live with that! :p :D
Does that mean that my forum errors are the same as mySQL problems? I keep getting this now...
Could not query forums information

Dr Ceil
Try repairing tables and see if that clears your problem ...it should.
Login with https://phpmyadmin.powweb.com/
Then click on the DB name upper left ...
Then on the right below all the rows of tables click Select All ...
Then with the dropdown box select Repair Table ...

Well, at least 6 of my posts reguarding this have been deleted today. Will this be the 7th? I have reported this til I was blue with no acknowledgement of an issue just replies of "it's comcast".
Hopefully a staff member will report on the status of the issue along with the remedy as it is stopping alot of in-depth users both general and business from hosting their sites here.

What? O:)
My forum got almost deserted because of this. I lost so many users.
mysql03 is not just slowing things, its actually corrupting databases...
I already sumbitted an account cancellation form.

That is true, my database has become corrupt twice in the last 3 days.
I too am, today, seeing "could not connect" and "connection lost" errors with sql03. I have already submitted a support request.

Geez!
Now I am getting this error (when I try to post something) :(
------------------------------------------------
Error in posting
DEBUG MODE
SQL Error : 1062 Duplicate entry '23282' for key 1

Line : 282
File : functions_post.php
--------------------------------
And then when I go to the index of the forum it gives me this other error. I tried repairing the tables, as Alpha Desk suggested, but it only fixes it so I can see the index again and browse the forum, but it still doesn't let me post! I have to hit "repair tables" a whole a lot.... grrrrrr. This is getting frustrating :(
