View Full Version : Anybody else having problems on mysql06?
I have been updating a phpesp survey quite happily for a couple of days now.
This morning it now comes up with the following message all the time..
Warning: Unknown(): open(/www/php/1/3/5/sess_135a6baf6c66331ee51452f8d425b4ae, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in Unknown on line 0
Warning: Unknown(): Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (3;/www/php) in Unknown on line 0
As this is kind of new to me, I am curious if it is the mysql file, or the phpesp script..

As you suspected, that error message has nothing to do with mysql06.
It's failing trying to open/save a session file.
These are saved in a global directory for which you have no control over.
If your up to it, I'd recommend creating your own sessions directory (at your root level), modifying the path in your php.ini to /www/u/username/sessions, and then adding a cron job to clean it out every 24 hours.
You'd have much more control over how many files are under your ownership - and better security - but it's a bit of work to setup.
Thanks for the tip!
Next dumb qestion. Can you point me in the direction in how to clean up a session.
Thanks in advance

Gosh, you got my hopes up that SOMEONE other than me is suffering on mysql06.
It seems like the last week or so I've been getting an unusual number of "Too many connections" errors. About 50 of them in the past half hour. Is it really just me with this problem on this server?
I keep writing the problem off as "out of my control", but shoot, this is really, really annoying me and I want to do something about it. Besides move the site to another hosting service, of course, since that would just be a pain.

I'm on mysql06 and I'm having a lot of problems connecting to my site.

I'm on mysql06 and I'm having a lot of problems connecting to my site.
I thought you were on mysql03? That's where you replied to the "too many connections" error. Or are you getting a "too many connections" error on mysql06 on another site?
I'm very interested in this one - as I have been on mysql06 for a while now and have only had that message once - at 8:20am one day this week.
I'm on mysql06. if I mentioned 03, then I made a mistake. And I just came back from class and checked my site...59sec to load :/

Do you have same slow results using phpMyAdmin to view your database?
Might be the cluster - try tracert your website and see what cluster comes back. It might also show if there's a problem along the way with your ISP
"traceroute 'beaverchat.com':
Note: this may take up to a minute.
Unknown host beaverchat.com"
"ping error (unknown host, etc.)"
Name: cluster04.powweb.com
Address: 66.152.98.204

Yes, phpMyAdmin runs slowly when I view my database.
Hmm.... How about that. I didn't even know about tracert. =) I'm not sure what it means or what to look for, but I just ran it on my system and this is what came back:

What's the "Request timed out" deal about? Are these otherwise normal results that are to be expected?

That looks like a slow ISP problem (a very uneducated guess from a person very unknowledgeable in the world of networks)
What kind of a connection do you have? With ADSL from Canada mine looks like:

1400ms ping time is more like a dial-up account than a high speed account.
Normal high-speed traffic speeds are anywhere from 20ms - 140ms.
On your own internal networks, they should be <10ms.

Yep, I'm on a dial-up account. Guilty as charged. =) Does that mean everything looks good from my end of things?

Yes, that means everything is well on your end. However I have utilized phpmyadmin on high speed lines and still takes 20+ seconds to transition through pages. So i know you must be having more than likely a slower response time than that.

Yeah, the phpmyadmin runs slower than a three-toed sloth. I attribute the slowness to it, at least partially, due to those pages being secure. Secure pages always tend to load slower than non-secure pages. Used to run a lot faster when the pages were not secure, but I'm not going to complain about things being more secure either. *shrug*

Why am I getting time outs? My page does NOT load for me. I don't know what's going on. about 2 hours ago, my forum stats were reset to "0". I had 0 members, 0 posts. I highly doubt that I this is my fault as I have NOT gotten into my acp, or touched PHPmyadmin at all.
Can a staff please explain why I, or other users, are having so much problems??? why is powweb not updating its customers of the problems that is plaguing some of the customers here?

OK having a bit of a problem, and it's gotten quite serious
Could not query forums information
DEBUG MODE
SQL Error : 1016 Can't open file: 'phpbb_posts.MYI' (errno: 145)
SELECT f.*, p.post_time, p.post_username, u.username, u.user_id FROM (( phpbb_forums f LEFT JOIN phpbb_posts p ON p.post_id = f.forum_last_post_id ) LEFT JOIN phpbb_users u ON u.user_id = p.poster_id ) ORDER BY f.cat_id, f.forum_order
Line : 167
File : index.php
and then I fixed it by running this in phpMyAdmin
Code:
REPAIR TABLE phpbb_posts;
But now it keeps coming back every 10-20 minutes.
I'm not sure if I am triggering it off or whats hapenning.
Any help would be appreciated.
