Hi. I am a new PowWeb member. I have two sites really, but I only want a review of one of them.

I have a band called Refried Confusion, and we play in the Southeast. I registered refriedconfusion dot com, and i don't have that site ready.

however, I LOVE jokes, and I started a joke portal site at:

http://jokes.refriedconfusion.com/

My goal was to create a site that would server as a portal for family-safe jokes and humor sites online. There's too many sites of questionable content online, so I wanted to use my spare time to create a links portal to non-adult, family friendly humor.

I wanted it to be streamlined, hence no graphics. I did use a stylesheet. The main software I am using is a php/mysql script to serve the pages, but to serve them as search-engine friendly URL's. I still have a lot of sites to be added.

So, any critiques would be nice.

Website: http://jokes.refriedconfusion.com/

Thanks,

Rob

It seems that I do have one user interface problem that needs to be fixed. The form for submitting a site is rather awkward.

I don't list the minimum lengths for the fields, and so someone who is submitting info has to fill out the form, get an error, and refill the info until they get the proper field lengths to submit the form.

Can you guys give me some advice as for the field lengths I should put for the form fields? The form is dynamically created, and here's the variables I have for the current settings:

Site Name Minimum: 5
How small a Site Name can be
.
Site Name Maximum: 75
How large a Site Name can be.

Description Minimum: 20
How small a Site Description can be.

Description Maximum: 255
How large a Site Description can be.

UserName Minimum:
How small a User Name can be. 5

UserName Maximum:
How large a User Name can be. 12

Password Minimum: 5
How small a Password can be.

Password Maximum: 16
How large a Password can be.

Hint Minimum: 5
How small a Password Hint can be.

Hint Maximum: 50
How large a Password Hint can be.

I guess I should at least put the minimum maximum values on the form so people know the lengths.

Thanks,

Rob

The design is easy to navigate, loads fast. Got a lot of good things about the site. I'd reccomend maybe a logo, you need a just a little eyecandy. :D Oh and I noticed you have no copyright note at the bottom. Anyways it's pretty simple design. But there are lots of users that want to see some graphics and not all text, me being one of them. :p

I do need a decent logo in the upper left instead of my plain jane H2 text.

That's my only criticism - the site is too grey and serious looking. You could either have graphics or just pick a warmer colour, one more reminiscent of fun...
