Too many connections causes by MYSQL 4.1?

Did this error start happening for people about the time the read me post about MYSQL 4.1 was put at the top of this forum? Could it be a bug in that version that has gotten worse recently? I would rather have that error then the corrupt db everytime some tries to post that I have had the last 12 hours. Just wondering.

Yea- browsing the incompatibility notes linked in the 4.1 upgrade post pinned above sounds like there are changes in the formatting of several fieldsin the tables - i.e.- they are stored differently in 4.1.
I will scream if we have to rebuild the tables from scratch to make them compatible with the new mysql version.
