I have not been able to access powweb on my laptop with broadband connx for about two days now. Due to illness it took me till today to get on an ancient pc resurrected from an old heap in my bedroom so I'll log in later to check for a reply to this on my 28k modem!

Problem was, I couldn't access my site (tho I had no problem with other sites outside powweb) but my webpartner and everyone else could, which led me to believe my (broadband) IP number was being blocked by Powweb, as neither could I access ANY other known Powweb hosted sites, including pw itself of course. And thse forums!!

I ran a virus check on my laptop and sure enough, there was a virus (java/ClassLoader.F) which I soon removed. But still no access re IP ban still being effective, I guessed.

I have managed to get off a support ticket now and hope for some quick advice, but just in case that doesn't happen.... ! .... can anyone remember this happening before?

Can this be the fault of my ISP (wanadoo.nl) blocking Powweb for some reason?

And how long is it likely to take to sort out? I really need broadband access to my powweb package again quickly!!

Thanks for any snippets you can throw my way.

Thanks for any snippets you can throw my way.I can't help much, other than to suggest going through a Proxy server to fool the ban - this is the technique used by people who are in China to get round blocks by their govt. - That would at least give an idea of who is blocking you (I think) - even if it didn't it may give the access you desire in the short term.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ian.
I did look into proxy servers et al, never have looked at it before up till now ;)

But it didn't seem to do the trick, but then I'm not even sure I was implementing them correctly....

...wotEEver... seems I am now privy to all PW sites/services again, so a switch must have been flipped somewhere to drop my IP ban at PW, so all is well again.

No confirmation of same by email yet from PW, BTW.
Would be nice to get a bit of background, all I have is conjecture at what happened...
A bit like waking up in your own bed again after being slugged unconscious the night before and not knowing exactly what happened any more importantly why

A sort of 'thanks but why' post, this one....
