I am adding a forum to my website and am looking for advice on a good, servicable and secure message board. I had planned on using the SMF Message boards but after a whole day of trouble shooting I finally realize that powweb does not (will not) support the chmod777 settings necessary for installation.

Anyone have and suggestions. BTW, I am a pretty basic skills user, somthing wysiwyg with a simple setup would be best in my case.

Thnaks, Glen

Instead of 777, use 755.

I tried 755 and I still get the internal server error.

I tried 755 and I still get the internal server error.Did you make sure all folders were 755? If it won't work with 755 I'd look for another forum.

I tried alot of different forums and galleries and keeping at chmod 755 should work. Just make sure like AlphaDesk said that you keep all of the folders at 755 too..... :)

VMX, try going to yourdomain.com/+sitemanager if that returns a 500 error then you'll need to submit a support ticket.

Ya, still get the error.

Submit a support ticket to where, I'm not being a smartie, I just wanna be sure I' m doing the right thing. Are you talking about the email support form in my user package?

Thanks, Glen

Email support@powweb.com and remember to check for a reply in the email address you specified in OPS for your contact email. It is NOT the email address for your website domain name for obvious reasons. If your domain name, hosting or email didn't work, you couldn't read the email. ;)
