everytime i try to create a pop email account for my domain, i have this error message, but i'm quite sure that in my domain, no one is using the username i try to setup. please help..
thanks
When you set up your POP boxes, the username must be unique among (essentially) all of Powweb's clients.
This message means that someone already has "huey". Sorry.
Create a POP account and call it something that will be unique (like "huey79" or something). Then, in the SMTP section, set up an alias "huey@<yourdomain>". Note: You have to set up aliases in order to receive mail into your POP accounts anyhow.
If you want to send and receive your mail on the "huey79" POP account, set the alias to point to huey79. You can also (or instead) have huey's e-mail forwarded outside Powweb's domain, or to multiple POP accounts all at once.
When you set up your e-mail client on your computer, you can still have your "reply-to" address set to huey@<yourdomain>. Your recipients will send mail to huey and appear to receive mail from huey, so the actual POP account username is really just for your use. It gives you a unique mailbox.
If you use Powweb's POP and SMTP for your mailbox, make sure to set "authentication allowed" in your SMTP properties and have your e-mail program supply your password (set in the POP3 section of OPS) when you both receive and send e-mail.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Tom, at least i understand now, I think powweb pre-signing information should includes this info too. Anyway, at least we have a way to work around this problem.
thanks again tom
FYI: You no longer have to set up any SMTP for any POP accounts you create. This was resolved a few weeks ago and posted in this forum.
Starr,
I don't know what you mean exactly by "resolved." Does that mean you made the FAQ and the OPS match?
The point is, huey doesn't want to be huey79, any more than I want to be tom77.
Just my 2 cents.

Now when you create a POP account, it automatically includes the SMTP forwarder for that POP account. Of course, if you want another alias to forward to that POP, you need to create this manually via the SMTP tab.
I haven't said anything on the topic before, but I'll throw in my observations.
People are more than a little confused about pop/smtp/userid's etc..
it used to be nnnn.userid for a userid, now it can be anything unique on powweb's servers, but cannot begin with a number.
personally, i liked the nnnn.userid, when i set up a pop account before OPS, it created the account, pop and forwarder automatically, and with the nnnn prefix, it was almost like having your own 'huey' username.
I'm not complaining about OPS, it's much more flexible and works when you do things by the instructions, but it's not for the faint of heart.
By the way, I may have missed the answer to this, but if we only have x number of mail forwarders as part of the package, does that number get subtracted by the number of pop accounts due to the fact that the pop accounts are forwarded too?
