PC Windows DVR for Video Monitoring

Need to build a PC based DVR for downloading surviellance video, and controlling PTZ cameras. Can anyone suggest what I will need, to have a good surviellance PC based system. I am using Windows XP Pro

You might look at www.x10.com, it's been awhile since I have been there but they have some pretty neat consumer grade security stuff including wireless cameras.

I am dumping all of my X-10 powerline carrier components. They have been nothing but trouble. Stay far away from X-10.

Interesting, I never had that much trouble with mine. I do admit that it's definetly consumer grade, not like the good Leviton switches that cost 4 times as much.
