Why is it now acceptable again to have pop-ups? Because they're Flash, do people like them more? Like PowWeb's homepage? Sometimes I avoid opening the homepage just because I don't feel like closing their pop-up window. And how do they get around Firefox's pop-up blocker? Are they not JavaScript? So anyway, cut it out, everyone. Oh yeah, and I hate those new ones that don't say 'close,' just 'hide.' It probably means the same thing, but when it says close, it just makes me feel better to click it.

Dabrowski,

The pop up on powweb's site isn't really a popup it's a floaty thingy. It loads with the page not externally like a pop-up would. Unless there's another external pop-up I don't know about. I think that "floater" is coded in a mixture of JS and dhtml. I agree though that they sometimes can be a nuisance, but only the ones that have no close button are the ones that really annoy me. ;)

Cheer,
Ryan

sometimes I'll run into ones that don't behave properly in firefox. IE, the close button doesn't work or something similarly irritating. Thanks for blocking 80% of your content with an ad. Guess I won't come back to your website. :)
