Hello, I am new to this webhost world, and i am using Mac OS 10.3, just wanna know if I can mount the ftp server on my desktop ( like iDisk ), so that i can perform drag & drop file.
Also, beside using the browser to upload file, is there any other way that i can upload file to the server? which is the most simple way to do?
Any help would be appreciate.
:)

You should have no problem using the Finder to FTP.

You might check out two FTP programs: Fetch (http://fetchsoftworks.com/) and CaptainFTP (http://captainftp.xdsnet.de/). You can also check out Apple's Internet Utilities (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/) listing.

Ok, I just mount the ftp on the desktop using Finder > Go to server, but i can not modify the content, like create folder and drag & drop, how to make changes?

Thanks for the quick help! :p

Oh that's right.. I forgot OS X 10.3+ mounts FTP volumes as read-only; OS X 10.2 and below didn't do that.

You'll need to go with option B -- grab an FTP client.

the tech support here is really good.

Hi parquixEven though i am new to this web building area, i am now being more confident. Always work on something new ... with a backup copy of your file. The very worst thing that can happen is ... opps that didn't work. :p

you and tbone have our deepest sympathy ;)

** just kidding. IE lets you use an similar features with drag and drop from what appears to be local folders to a server folder when FTP view is active, which is nice for some simple things **

FTP clients are very popular to download and upload your files individually. Many can be configured for batch operations and scheduled operations to do things like automatic file updates, database backup & downloads, etc. Almost all of them also support simple drag and drop from client to server folders.

Welcome and Good Luck!

If your only uploading a couple files the terminal is pretty easy to use, if your somewhat familier with ftp commands anyways.
