I think I did something to my computer, I used the "Hijack This" software last night and now I cant get into anything that uses a password, hotmail, bank info, credit card....
My Norton System Works no longer works either. Anyone have any suggestions?
Sounds like you may have removed some registry keys or something which were used by system works.
Try using system restore to restore a previous version of the registry. Better yet install a decent security package other than norton ;)
As for wensites not allowing secure authentification that's weird. What error are you getting at log in?

How do I do a System Restore?
From the "Help" menu on your computer searching for "system restore" :)
You can access the System Restore Wizard through the Start menu. To access the System Restore Wizard, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
You can access System Restore through Control Panel. To open the System Restore Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Performance and Maintenance. Under See Also, click System Restore.
You can access System Restore through Help and Support Center. To access the System Restore Wizard, click Start, and then click Help and Support. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Using System Restore to undo changes, and then click Run the System Restore Wizard.

Backup any files you want (not programs) on CD or other removable storage.
Check out http://www.windowsreinstall.com/ Pick your OS and print out the instructions

I installed Hijack This on a client's computer to resolve problems, then I told him NOT to use it, because I thought he would do what you did. It will edit your registry. The program allows you to make a backup. Did you do it? You should be able to save a list of things found by the program BEFORE you deleted them, so you can restore them if you need to do so.
You have Norton System Works which also has Registry programs. Do you have any saved versions from before you ran Hijack This? If you are unable to edit your registry, you may need to reinstall Norton System Works and possibly even Windows. I hope you have a copy of the registry created from one of your programs.

This is an example of a log file created using the program. Nothing was checked since there were no bad things on my computer.

This part shows that my home page is my own web page. When people hijack your home page, this will be changed. You can delete or modifiy it as desired. Most people have the default msn.com page if they did not change it.

Did you run Norton Registry Tracker?
It can help you recover from unwanted changes in your system. You can use Quick Fix and Restore features of Norton Registry Tracker to return the tracked items to its former state.
Quoted from the program.
I just ran the program to create a snapshot. It created a list of items in the registry and said nothing was changed. If I messed up my registry now, I could use this to restore it.
Did you run Norton Registry Editor?
This is the one that would be easier to do for me, because it shows the registry as viewed when viewing the Registry normally on a computer. You can backup the registry, find and replace to edit the registry and import or export files. Did you ever backup your registry?
Isn't it amazing that we buy this software and don't use it to its fullest potential? We don't think about it until it is too late.
