i know that powweb uses oscommerce, but i don't want a seperate "store site". I just want to ebter my product info tax info shipping info etc. into the manager and just have a script that i can put into my html that will put that item into the customer's shopping cart. if you go to one of my product pages (i.e. http://llclassics.com/products/curtains/margarita.html ) you'll see what I mean. Can I just have the oscommerce shopping cart and manager and the option of having customers create accounts without having a seperate site? The main reason I'm asking is because I really like my current layout and I don't really want to change it. thanks in advance to anyone that answers.

PowWeb does not "use" osCommerce - osC is simply one of several script packages that are offered for installation. You can use whatever you want as long as it works here.

You may want to consider the PayPal Shopping Cart, which works the way you want. Americart is another (not free). osCommerce isn't well suited to this, though some people have modified it in this fashion.

It really takes a LOT of customization to get osCommerce to look like your site. I'm working on one now, and I'm not even going to bother with the backend, since it's just a tool. But the front end should end up being pretty well customized. I'll have to let you take a look when it's more complete.

I know that - I meant that osCommerce is the only free shopping cart offered other than paypal.

Not to offend any paypal users, but I think PayPal just doesn't seem as professional to me as an integrated shopping cart.

I might check out AmeriCart...but my question is still the same: can I use all of osCommerce's other features without the catalog pages?

There are "template" contributions that allow you to integrate osC into an existing site, but it is still a lot of work. I think there are also contributions that allow you to add cart buttons to non-osC pages. I have not used any of them. Go to http://forums.oscommerce.com and click on Contributions.
