Hi there! Maybe someone can help me with what is probably a small problem but one I just can't seem to wrap my head around...

I have a subweb on my domain called book_world and a link to it on my home page. Since some people have been visiting it without going via the homepage link, I imagine they must have saved other pages as favourites or used a link in their address bar histories to go back to them. Some of these people have even gone so far as to purchase books so I wouldn't like to upset them...

Now I have created a new subweb called e_book_world and, ideally, I'd like to just chuck out book_world and alter the homepage link to take visitors to e_book_world but, obviously, that would break any links that anyone has made to book_world.

What is the best way to organise the transition from the old subweb to the new?

Leave the "book_world" directory for now with a redirect telling them they are being rdirected to the new directory ... "e_book_world".

Thanks for responding Alphadesk - sounds good!

Ummm... how do I create a redirect (I know, you give her boots and she wants laces, give her the world and she wants the universe, typical woman...) Sorry I'm so unedumacated... :D

Place an index.htm page in your book_world directory with this in the head section. Edit for your needs. In this example the page with redirect to the e_book_world directory in "5" seconds.

Make the rest of the page explain what is going on ...

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://www.yoursite.com/e_book_world/">

also put the robots no index meta tag in your index page directory book_world.

Thanks AlphaDesk - that's brilliant! Maybe I should do it to all the pages in book_world and leave the site there for a while...I guess a month would do it. Can't thank you enough for your help. Cheers!
