Hi. I am running Windows XP. When I click on something that brings up a new window, IE opens with a window that is half the size of the screen. Can I get it to open full size? Thanks.

And example would be clicking on the icon to get to the Powweb forum page.

Probably the wrong forum for this... but... IE opens the window the same size as the last window that was opened.

So if you open up IE and maximise the window. Then close it again... each time you open a new window it will now open full screen.

That's the way it's supposed to work, but being IE, it doesn't alway do what it's supposed to do. That's why I've switched to Firefox, and open everything in new tabs.

Hehe, that's one reason to switch I guess :)

Tabbed browsing was one of the reasons I changed too - along with the security improvements and better standards support... we'll see what IE7 can muster :)

Unfortunately some sites still require IE to work, e.g. windows update...

I'm not sure about "windows update" but this (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Developer%20Tools&numpg=10&id=59) firefox extension (called "user agent switcher") usually works for websites requiring IE.

Looks like another thread has been hijacked by a firefox discussion.

OK. I have a friend who fixed this for me. When the small window would pop up, I would make it full-screen by clicking the square icon in the upper right corner. In this case the window would appear small again when I next invoked it. If, however, I make the window full-screen by pulling on the frame, it then comes up the next time the same size as I made it. Go figure,

If you want tabbed browsing in IE just get Maxthon. If you are afraid of spyware, just disable active-x and turn it back on when you need it. Or just learn how to click "no"

Oh no, is this the latest incarnation of the 'just say no' campaign!?
