My site is down for the last 3 hours. While trying to connect to mysql09.powweb.com I'm getting this error message pageCan't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2). Is mysql09.powweb.com down? Can anyone tell me what is causing this problem?

That error message is an indicator that you are using 'localhost' in your scripts, so double check that.
