Hi All,
I don't know if i'm posting this question in the right area, so my apologies if i'm in the wrong spot. However I need some help and i'm clueless when it comes to all this webmaster stuff. Here's what i'd like to accomplish and if anyone can walk me through it I'd be forever grateful.
I'd like a simple database or spreadsheet that myself and a partner can access to keep track of simple information, name, email address, birthdays, date of joining, last update. I'm trying to eliminate our need to send a file back and forth to one another and not store this information on our respective computers. i don't have a clue how to even begin something like this or if it's even possible.
Any instructions you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Nichole

Your best bet would be to look into a wiki - which is a database that can be modified by multiple users. A quick google search for "wiki" will show a number of scripts as options. I myself don't use any so I'm not sure of what's "better" than something else.

Thanks but that looks just as confusing as the other things I've investigated. Any other suggestions, sorry I'm so clueless about this.

Second question: what addressbook software are you using now on your respective pc's ? Eg are you using Microsoft's Outlook or perhaps just plain OutlookExpress with its addressbook ?
If you are using Microsoft's Office Suite, and this is the only online service you are looking for in the near future, and if you aren't yet a client here, then I might suggest, you check some Microsoft Server based hosting, that may better integrate with your address book sharing problem. If you and your partner are mostly connected to the internet at the same time, you may not need any server service but could share your Outlook content directly.
If what you describe are your only requirements to time, I would suggest you check for service providers of 'web applications', desktop tools provided thru a webserver.
A choice of what I found on a web search (the first one I did check out some time ago for integration into a forum system):
http://server.com/
http://www.myevents.com/
Apart from this, there are many free and open source calendar applications to be pulled from the web. Quality varies vastly, and you will need a bit programming to adapt them to your actual need.

http://www.k5n.us/webcalendar.php
and
http://php.brickhost.com/
Skimmed the web for a low end commercial product and found this:
http://www.bosdev.com/index.htm
Both these products require a hosting as offered by Powweb. Note that these are only two samples out of many such tools.
