I am a nww PowWeb member and have attemped to do somthing that I did with my previous isp.

I am using MS Outlook both at work and at home for this.

I forward a copy of all of my work mail to my home to an account I have setup just for that.

On this account at home I set the "reply to address" to my work email. That way if I reply to my email when I am at home and then someone reply's to it, it goes to work and then is forwarded to me at home. Which is what I want. This previously worked.

Now that I have moved my domain to PowWeb the following occurs.

I recieve all of the email I forward to home from work with no problem.

Then when I replay to an email at home for my work mail the send always fail with the following error message:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server Response: "554 <Email address sent to>: Relay access denied. (Account <account name, SMTP server: "mailo8.poweb.com", Error Nmber: 0x800ccc79).

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can correc this so that I can use this technique to reply to mail from work?
Thanks,
Roger

You'll need to enable SMTP Server Authentication within Outlook under Account Properties.

Thanks for the suggestion. That did not work. Do you know of anything else that would cause this? FYI, I am not running this on a server at home. I am using Outlook 2000 SR1 on Windows XP SR2.

Thanks,
Roger

Depending the way the mail was forwarded to you, the Reply function of your mail client at home may have chosen your business address as From: address. The appearance of sending for/from another domain triggers the 'relay' indication.

Recommendation(1): check once more if you cannot connect to your business mail server from the outside world. If not, take care, the company may not like that you transfer their company mail to personal accounts.

Recommendation (2): create a separate mailbox @yourdomain.com, and define an email address separate from your personal box, like yourbusiness@yourdomain.com. Then create a visible sender name like:
Yourname (businessemailaddress@businessdomain.com)
but with the actual email address just created, eg yourbusiness@yourdomain.com.
This should show for the recipient as-if you were sending it from work while using your domain email server.
