mambo/gallery 1.5 - slow

I've just uploaded and integrated gallery 1.5 into mambo. Whoohoo... Thing is... The display time for the gallery is SUPER slow whether I have 5 folders or 13 folders displayed in the gallery main page.

I tried this and had no success:

include("http://www.domain.com/path/to/file.html");
to use:
include("http://localhost.domain.com/path/to/file.html");

I noticed that many people in the forums spoke of fast and then slow and then fast and then slow, etc display times. What's going on? Is there something that needs to be changed/included/etc to speed up the display time?

I haven't changed my DNS because I'm testing POWWEB first. Thusfar I'm extremely unimpressed.

I just worked with Laurey in the chat board and found that replacing the url - http://garyploskico.temp.powweb.com with my root path - /www/g/garyploskico/htdocs did not load images.

Also times went from <10 seconds to 5 then back up to >10 seconds while I tested the above. Argh.
