New Site Ideas

I've been putting some layouts together for a customer of mine and would like some opinions on the ideas I have. One is of a the classic style (brown color scheme) and the other is for the splash page style.....

Excellentay............the frog does say!.........no, really I like the brown style, it looks really pro and modern......go with it!......good job...............froggy.

I like the brown a lot too, but there are a couple of little things I'd like to mention.

1. The font. Perhaps this is just an example, because Times is pretty low on my favourites list.

2. The drop shadow - that's a straight out of the box drop shadow. You'll improve on it's subtlety and attractiveness by reducing and tweaking it more. Effects should be seen and not heard. (what the hell am I talking about???)

I also like the modern version, but felt that it's font was actually too quirky. It nedded more of a cool minimalistic font, but aside from that was damned attractive (though a little small).

Yea the drop is out of the box and I have made some necessary changes to make them more subtle. As for the fonts I really need to get a font package. Know of any good site for free fonts. I know you can get them from Adobe and other sites but I am cheap.
