Hi!

I'm new to Powweb. I just signed up two days ago. I think their service is great except I wish they had 24hour telephone support service. Any, how come, I don't see a CGI bin on my website?

That's an excellent question. How and where are you looking for it? You should be using an FTP program to access the server and should see a directory tree something like this:

/cgi-bin
/etc
/htdocs
/logs

If you aren't seeing this on your server when you log in via FTP then something is definitely goofy. You'll need to contact tech support asap.

Actually!

I have several problems with my site:

1. Unable to access my site using an FTP program (Cute FTP);
2. Unable to access the Membership control panel to administer my site;
3. Unable to locate a cgi-bin

Someone help me please?

Terry:

Send me your PowWeb hosting confirmation email. The one with the log in info and path statements. You can send it to my personal address at simlead@simcoweb.com

And i'll see what I can figure out and get back to you.

I had to create a cgi-bin folder in mine.

cgi path is /www/y/yoursite/cgi-bin
or /www/m/mysite/cgi-bin

If you have a user name is longer than 12 letters, it cuts the rest off as in homeemployment would be homeemployme

Make sure to set the permissions to 755 with your ftp program as well. It doesn't have to be called cgi-bin if you don't want it to be named that. Just make sure the html code points to the proper directory. I set up ikonboard in a different directory and got it working after about 3-4 days of fudging with it. I also am running an addlink script for extreme metal sites from my link icon on my site.
