Yes, there is SSL. There's even a whole osCommerce section of this forum further down on the page than the General Support Issues section. PowWeb has an install for osCommerce that you can even run directly from OPS.
I've set up a few osC sites, the latest being www.granolahut.com hosted here on PowWeb.
Ecommerce is the term used for selling products online. osCommerce is a set of software that helps you run an ecommerce site.

Yes, we have shared SSL certificate for your use.
ecommerce is the general conception of selling merchandise over the Internet.
oscommerce is a shopping cart application to achieve ecommerce.
Edit: I was too slow! :D

umm whats granola seems.. interesting..lolz
osCommerce is certainly popular and you can do a lot with it. My Cheshire Garden site (link below) is one. If you like what you have with osCommerce there's no real reason to look for something else.

thankyou...one last question..is it easy to customize with any layout...becaus ei have a template in html format...will i be able to convert it to be compatible with OScommerce without any coding? as i dont know any coding.
edit---
and sorry for so many questions but i promise this is the last...will the site be protected automatically from hackers...or will i need to buy something additional to set up the security..as im planning on starting something big..and the items are very pricey..thus i want my customers to know that they are buying from a secure server and their credit numbers wont be hacked...well basically to give my customers the confidence to buy from me..
and also what is protx and will i need it ?
do i need to keep the oscommerce copyright..
what program does this site use...or is it all coded by themselves..

Thankyou
If you don't know any coding, then avoid osCommerce. Look for some other solution. You cannot get anywhere with osCommerce without learning at least a bit of PHP coding. You may want to consider Zen Cart (www.zen-cart.com), which is derived from osCommerce but is said to be easy to set up and customize.
PowWeb does a very good job of protecting its servers from hackers, but you are responsible for the scripts you install. I'm not aware of any cases where someone's site has been hacked (as in, files modified), other than from insecure scripts installed by the site owner or other common security flaws (such as easy to guess passwords.) If you install scripts, it is your responsibility to make sure they are configured in the correct manner for security and to keep up with any patches and updates from the script developers.
Regarding your customers' credit card information protection - this is entirely up to you. If you use a payment gateway such as 2Checkout or authorize.net or PayPal, those services handle the credit card numbers and you don't need to be concerned with them. But other information is stored in your database and is potentially vulnerable. If you collect credit card numbers for your own processing, you will want to protect them in some way. PowWeb can't help you with that other than to maintain the security of their servers.
I have never heard of "protx".

and with a little knowlesge of coing is is it easy to customize the looks of oscommerce
and your chesire site is powered by oscommerce right?
if thats what it can be i think ill stivk to oscommerce...but does it have credit card verification and stuff?
---
sorry for so much bother
I don't recognize the store software being used by that candy site.
It is NOT easy to customize the look of osCommerce. Yes, Cheshire Garden is an osCommerce site, but I've been working on it for a year and a half, and have made some significant changes to the look over that time. I am a professional software engineer (though this site is a hobby for me), so coding is something I enjoy. I learned PHP for working on this site.
osCommerce itself cannot verify that a credit card is valid. It does do a simple arithmetic check on the number which can help catch typing errors, but it in no way talks to the bank to see if the card is valid. osCommerce can talk to different commercial payment gateways for doing the validation and processing of the credit card. You have to sign up for the gateway service and pay their fees.
You can start with the standard osCommerce store and make simple changes as you go. Major changes to the look can require extensive coding changes to more than 30 files, though it's often the same changes in each file.

do you know what program or 'cart' this site uses..:If you want to try the ZenCart, they have a sample shop on their site.
In June I coached a new shop owner thru the installation. Very nice installation procedure, all web based after uploading the software and signing up the MySql database.

how do i set up the ssl connection?Just by using the 'https:' protocol designator in your links and using the special url '<whatever>.secure.powweb.com'. Check in OPS > package > HTTP > Overview for the correct name. Don't use the one where the <whatever> part is named according to your account name, but named according to your domain name.
When you are using a package, you just configure this url, the package will choose when to use it. Only use it at the very end when the visitor goes thru the checkout process. Several packages will give you this more efficient choice.
