Well, I think it could be better if the image didn't stop and go to the background color so abruptly (see the neck of the image of the head). It would look better if that...faded into the white background. Also, the bar with some of the navigation should fade into the white background as well. The circle type thing in the top left corner would look nice if it was a complete circle, or just faded to the background color.

But, that's just me and my crazy ideas. :D

The site looks kinda cool. Interesting graphics, it looks fairly tight and solid. I'm not sure why there is such a large top margin, though. I guess it might be because the page is centered in the available space. On my 1024x768 screen it leaves a lot of white. I work in web design myself, and I know that sometimes that's unavoidable, but it is something to avoid.

I see you use Photoshop. Gotta love drop shadows. :) I've always liked that chrome filter you used for the top bar, I've used it a few times myself. It screams Photoshop to me, but it probably wouldn't to the average visitor. ;)

The site does seem to straddle the line between personal site and business site. It's rare to see a large picture of the owner on a business site. If it's working for you and people aren't scared off by seeing up your nose, that's cool.
