My site is hosted on ftp07. I am using Core FTP LE. I connected to it earlier today and was uploading some files just fine. Now I'm trying to connect again, and it gives me the following error:

Can't establish connection --> ftp07.powweb.com:21 @ Thu Sep 01 10:46:10 2005 (10054-38)
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

What does this mean? How can I fix this? I tried closing and reopening the program, and I also restarted the computer, but it still gives me the same error.

Also, I am able to connect to other non-Powweb sites just fine.

Thanks for any help,
Sandy

Wow. You posted two hours after the inital post by powweb complaining. Besides the only way the really know of a problem is if you actually CALL THEM!

The admins do not check the board to see if users are reporting any problems with the servers. You would need to call support to let them know. They will create a trouble ticket and the admins then will check out the problem you are stating.

If a problem has already been reported they will let you know that and someone will possibly post on the board that they have been notified of a problem and will state the admins are working on it. It is not good business practise however to state what the problem is or how long it will take. By stating the problem they could open them selves up to atacks of that nature, and by stating how long they think it might take will possibly make users, like you, complain that its taking longer then stated.

I jumped on to the chat board at my lunch time, approximately 2 hours ago. I was told the the server would be up within the hour. I didn't send a trouble ticket in due to the post that FTP07 was down (as well as in OPS).

I understand things take time, but how about an ETA from someone?

Users on ftp07 can connect to ftp09 to upload files for the time being. The problem with 07 is hardware related and is being worked on now. Sorry for any inconvenience. We'll let you know when 07 is available again.

I was going crazy trying to upload images to ftp07. It has timed out several times for small files all under 50k. I noticed this problem for a few weeks but blamed my crappy one-way cable modem. But I noticed it was only happening on ftp07 when I worked on Mick's website. :rolleyes: Glad to see a post admitting the problem. Hope that someone posts when it is fixed.

If we all used the same ftp server it could possibly over load the server and even more people would be pissed off if it crashed. With using multiple servers only a small number of people are effected.
