This is my second website, hosted on powweb of course.

The site has not gone "public" as of yet, but i would like some of your critiques before it does.

The site is essentialy about Detroit and some interesting things about the city, ( jit , cars , and other various info) Forgive me that some of the sections are not up yet.

Detroit Depot (http://www.detroitdepot.net) ( check out the videos and click an ad for me haha :) )

The simple color scheme is nice. The site fits nicely in 800x600 screen resolution. It is easy to read and navigate. Some of the links are broken, but the contents are not all here yet. Links to other websites should open in a new window. Your roommate Stephen did a nice job with your site and his! ;)

I know you want to make money from ads, but you should choose horizontal ads OR vertical ads and not both. Too many ads are just too much. If the contents don't go as far down the page as the ads do, the ads may not be viewed. If the pages are long, consider a Back to Top of Page link or horizonal navigation links at the bottom of the page.

Consider posting again when you have contents. I wanted to see the Caprice and Impala, but there were no pics! I still love the original cars, but I am older than you. Are you going to post articles about the music? Mitch Ryder, Kiss (sang a song about Detroit), Ted Nugent and the car songs. That would be fun. I met my husband at a car cruise, so I can be a bit nostalgic about cars and music.

Looks like this website has an interesting site scope - topics related to Detroit. There should be no trouble adding contents and getting visitors. Just search for link exchanges to improve ranking and increase visits.

Very nice design!

The only small thing I would say is that it's very black...just an idea, but introducing some greys would set it off nicely - perhaps make the top left link boxes turn grey on hover?

I'd change the :hover text color on the nav menu. I'd also either remove the right Google ads, or offset them from the page content a little more. In times where you're using the left-column, offset the Google ads from its content, also.
