View Full Version : Well, here it goes
www.gandmcomputers.com
I havent had much time to work on this at all since I first set it up, but once football is over for me I will get back to finishing it.
For a similar design in a different color scheme, I have this: http://games.gandmcomputers.com

the top links are kinda hard to read (blue on blue) and the intro is kinda a waste of the viewers time. otherwise it looks pretty good!
Thanks...
I know their hard to read... I tried to use the hover color to allievieate that.
I can't decide on a color to use for links that looks good on both blue and white... Green is hard on both. Would red look okay? Or should I change the entire color scheme to a different color (such as light red or grey)?
All suggestions are greatly apppreciated.

There is horizontal scrolling at 800x600 screen resolution. The text links in the tabs could be white, but turn orange when moused over. The design is plain, but that is okay since the site is more for informational purposes. I am bored with those tabs on pages, since the look of folders seems so old. No one files papers much anymore.
The contact page has NO information, just a form to request information from visitors. The about page could use more business information such as: years in business, how many employees (if alot), business location, or other information that would build trust and credibility or at least professionalism. The home page could use a better description of the target audience area. Within 50 miles of a given city. List cities in the North side of Indy.
This site looks like a couple teenagers are trying to build pcs at home and that is okay, but you need to appear more professional. I did not see any payment, privacy or refund policies. Do you accept PayPal, credit cards or other payment methods? Include any information that will define your target audience - location, services provides, accepted payments, other.
Consider a resources (links) page to include links to related sites that link back to yours. This will improve your link popularity which is a major factor in Google's page ranking. Try computer sites that are not in direct competition with you and in your location. Also list your site in directories AFTER you complete your website and include your contact information.
Thanks for the tips.
As for the tabs, I have better looking ones that I will add soon enough, but I don't know what your mean when you say they look old and no one uses paper anymore...
And you hit the nail on the head... 2 of us (I'm the only one with ANY knowledge of web design).

The tabs are supposed to look like the tabs found on paper folders found in a file cabinet. But many people don't store files on real paper found in real folders. They store electronic Word documents on hard drives, cds or disks. The tabs were common for years and I guess I am bored of them.
The other design on the Games page is really old style common in the 80s/90s. That is okay for a games page, but not professional for a business site, especially one expected to be innovative or high-tech. Black backgrounds are common for porn, piracy, games, rock music, tattoo and motor sites.
I am wondering why so many people have those same free games on their websites. I suppose they are trying to get people to revisit their websites. How about original contents?
