Hi Everybody,

You are all cordinally invited to my site http://www.heketi.com. This is my first website.

I would like to hear all you're suggestions & comments. How can I improve it? Is the color scheme good? etc.

Also, If anybody can help; I would like to know how to make it more search engine optimized, especially for Google, MSN. In yahoo I'm in good ranking.

Good Day,
JP

Also, Join the Forum it's free! Haha :D .

It's about 10-15% complete but you can still get the feeling.

Since there isn't much contents, there isn't much on which to comment. I can say that I am not crazy about the logo, because the gray outline around the blue color does not have much contrast compared to the white background. The color scheme is common and nice for information sites.

There are news headlines from New York Times Daily News and BraveNet News. Why have both? There are Google ads on the left side, but they may be ignored since they blend into the rest of the contents. A contrasting color may bring attention to them. There are NO pics, just alot of text on the home page. Break up text with some color by including images or horizonal rules in red or orange, for example.

Forum link gives error saying it cannot connect to the database. The copyright info should appear at the bottom of each page. I do not see any ORIGINAL or UNIQUE contents on this website. I hope this isn't another free contents site with Google Ads to try to make money on the Internet. Please add original or unique articles, images, games, reviews, and other contents.

It looks like one of those sites that are listed in search engines that contain the exact phrase you searched for, but when you go to it it's just like it's own low-quality search engine and it's impossible to find the result that actually got it listed in the original search engine's results list. That was a long-winded description. There needs to be a word for those things.

Nothing seems to stand out on the page. It's fairly monotonous. I'd say: design it a little more. Making it more eye-catching or something. Unfortunately I can't give you much more specific advice.

What are horizonal rules? Can anybody provide me a link that explains this concept.

Thank You,
JP

First, a horizontal rule is the <HR> tag, which creates a horizontal line across a page (or across a cell in a table), unless you specify a width for it, in which case it will be as wide as you specify.

I don't have a link handy, but there are lots of pages that will give you good, easy to understand reference for the different html tags. Depending on what, if any, web design software you might be using, it may contain a reference resource as well.

As far as the site itself goes, well, I think your word of the day describes it well. ;)
