I can't access my website (cfgphoto.com) or my email. Is anyone else on cluster 08 experiencing this?

Well, that was mercifully brief - it all appears to be working again.

Hi folks - anyone else having problems accessing their webmail? seems to be a today thing? If not then "Houston I have a problem!"

You're doing better then me. I can't access any powweb site besides from powweb.com. All the sites I'm hosting at powweb arn't working, and even the link you posted for yours isn't working for me. It looks like they are having some rather large scale problems.

Hopefully it's something minor that will be resolved by morning. It sort of looks like a DNS issue to me. Since the sites I can't access can be accessed via ops.

My sites on cluster 2 are inaccessable.

It was working OK yesterday, but now when I try to access it the browser times out and gives me:
"Safari can’t open the page “http://yachts.monacoeye.com/index.html" because it can’t find the server “yachts.monacoeye.com”."

This is different from last weekend when I was getting the "contact the webmaster" message. I see no announcements, so is anyone else having problems?

Im starting to think that only powweb.com is on the load balance fail safe cluster... for the 7 days I joined powweb, the downtime was so frequent! its worse than that other hosting company I joined previously... I hope I will be proven wrong...

Yes, I have that problem, too. AND, the temporary domain as indicated in Outages does not work either.

Been having access problems for the last 3 mornings and it's starting to annoy one or two of my members. Could you please check out the cluster?

www.bad-hair-day.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks keyplyr. So it's a DNS problem this time, not a cluster problem then…

Fingers crossed they'll be able to fix it soon.

You can use your mail server to access email if you need to.

For instance:
If you are on mail02, then instead of mail.yourdomain.com change to mail02.powweb.com as your mail server, within your email program.

FTP still works because the ftp servers are totally seperate from HTTP, just as are the mailxx.powweb.com servers are.

Well for the past 8 days we got used to our cluster 4 sites being down between 3-7 pm.. but now between 3am - 5 am and counting too... jeez.

Is anybody else experiencing this?

and yes I did see , but "admins are working on the resolution of the issue" is getting old after 2 weeks

DNS Problem

All,

All clusters are up and running right now, however, some domains are not working due to a dns issue. You can access your site/emails using your temporary URL.

site: http://domain.temp.powweb.com
mail: mail##.powweb.com

The Admin team is working on the resolution of this issue.

Thank you.

Cecille

My site has been under DOP (denial of profits attack  ) for the past 9 days now, and my magic ball tells me there will be another server downtime due to a DOS attack between 3-7 pm today *sigh*

Best of Luck Powweb in fixing your issues,

Impatiently waiting

Thanks jj, I just read it in the outages thread...
When will it be fixed?

To rbradscott:
I think you have to use mailXX.powweb.com... and not mailXX.mydomain.com

Well... my domain's still down.... shevet.com
Why?;-)

Re the temp domain.

I found if you replace "domain" with, say, "fishingcom", if your site is called "fishing.com", then you'll get the top level page.

ie ...//fishingcom.temp.powweb.com

What use that is I don't really know, since as soon as you click on a link you get stuck again. :(

Arun
10-7-05, 06:36 AM
OR may be .... fishing.temp.powweb.com

It is supposed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and give you some confidence that your site still exists somewhere out there

Well, as I wrote in the second message of this thread, I thought everything was alright but it's not.

The strange thing is I'm not having any problems accessing my site on cluster 08, but the logs show that the only visitors for the past few hours have been me and a the usual bots. It's almost as if this problem is access location specific.

I can't even get that temp domain to work.
My temp domain works, but it's useless as the images don't show. I can't take it anymore. :(

Yep, mailXX.powweb.com "seems" to work, thanks. Although a test message sent into my acct from a yahoo web acct hasn't yet arrived after a reasonable wait, which is unusual. Doesn't seem to have bounced, but I wonder what's happening to my incoming mail, exactly.

Seriously, if Powweb can't guarantee that these problems will end soon (and by soon I mean today is the end of it) I will have to switch to another company.

I don't care about paying more and getting less bandwidth/web space, the bottom line is if my visitors come to my site and it doesn't load, that's total unacceptable.

It's not about the $100 I paid to have them host me for a year, it's me looking like a horse's *** to my customers who are now probably pissed (and rightfully so).

Powweb, get your act together.

I just hope they fix this before the mid morning rush occurs.

IT IS WORKING!!!!!!!!!! wooo--hoooo.... alright well lets hope there wont be anymore unscheduled outages, since there will be a DOS attack in the afternoon.

Have a great day powwebbers

Yes, as the link to the Outage Announcement says, there is a DNS problem currently - meaning some ISPs will have you address cached and still connect users, and some will not have the correct address and will give users a message like this: 500 Can't connect.
Note: DNS back in service since 30 mins, according to Outages forum update and my site is back.

What use that is I don't really know, since as soon as you click on a link you get stuck again. :(Well, you don't really have to 'find it out' by yourself. The temporary URLs were listed in the welcome mail when you signed up for the package. Apart from any the main domain name any other pointer domain name will work the same, and you can also use the Powweb account in that place.

The temporary URLs are also listed in OPS > package > HTTP > Overview !

The temporary URLs are intended for use by the account owner and host, to test the website while the name servers are not yet pointing to Powweb. This can be cause the site being prepared is still located elsewhere, or cause the name server has not yet propagated accross the internet and is not yet available to the ISP (eg 24 to 72 hours after setting up a new domain name or changing name servers).
