I'm sitting at almost 97 hours on my open cancellation ticket. It took just a few minutes to get signed up originally- I cannot imagine there is much of anything in this process that can't/isn't automated. I'd just like cancelled, refunded, and move on with life.

This past summer when I cancelled one of my credit cards, there was a credit balance on the account. It took them TWO MONTHS for me to receive my refund check. In July, I switched to Vonage VOIP phone service at home and got rid of my my land line. It's now October and I'm STILL waiting for the last month repayment (since it was prepaid).
Ten business days is pretty damn good.

I understand it will take a while for the refund to show on my CC. It just seems like four days is quite a while to not even begin the process. When you cancelled your credit card I bet it was cancelled immediately (ie. you could no longer charge on it). I still have access to everything, hence not cancelled, and therefore not a fair comparison.
However, thank you for the original answer.

Where do you get off calling your client's response idiotic? You are a member of the Powweb staff, and your customer asked you a question. You WILL respond courteously. You should apologize right now for acting like a jackass.

What can you think of a company whose staff tells someone that their response is idiotic...?
Even if it is idiotic, I think that is very unprofessional.

Eh sh*t the **** up. It seems that during the last week a bunch of users out here aren't missing any chance of provocating PW, the staff or the moderators. Chill down.. damnit...
Hey . .calm down boys. You just need to wait some more for this issue to be resolved. Now you know you need 10 days. On the 10th day, start investigating again if powweb has not yet deposited the money. Keep in mind that it may take up to 2 days for it to show in your cc.

Keep in mind that if your still in your first package(havent re-newed) and after your initial 30 days, you get charged a $25 cancellation fee.
I had a 2 year package that i used for one year and didnt really need it after that so i cancelled it. I ended up getting about $14 back for it after all the fees. If i would have known that, I would have kept it till the end of 2006.

When I initiated the cancellation I was only two weeks into my contract. I have my fingers crossed that it will actually get cancelled (and all my money refunded) by the end of the 30 days. 186 hours and counting...

Your cancellation 30 days aren't in jeopardy - the initial contact date with the request for cancellation will be within the 30 days. The refund is made to your CC or Debit card. This takes a further 3 days (working of course) to show up.

Okay. Thanks. Still don't understand why this process would not be automated but I will (try to) be patient.

Update- Just got notifed account has now been deactiviated, which is good news. Five(ish) working days is reasonable. Will now watch for the CC refund to show within the next 3-5 business days.
Thanks for the replies.
