Anyone know how long it takes for sear engines to look at your site after you register your URL with them ? been a week or so now since I registered mine on Google and Yahoo and I cannot find my site on one of their searches..
Thanks, Steve
It can take a month or more. You should check your access logs to see if any search engines have tried to index your site. Even if they did, it can be weeks before the index updates.
The best way to get search engines to see your site is to have a link to it from some other site that is indexed - a link that is meaningful and not just a "link farm".
Patience is key here. Concentrate on building a site people will want to visit.
Yeah, you should try and get links from other sites. Even getting one link from a site that gets visited regularly from google/yahoo will have you indexed within most likely, a week.
You can also try making a Google Sitemap here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/overview.html that will help google look through your site and index it better.
Yahoo also has a site map.
You should also try getting into MSN as it is a big competitor right now as well.
