I am trying to get a new project up and running but am randomly unable to connect to the mysql server. Not only is this very inconvenient to me while trying to develop the site, it is also not looking good to my visitors who think my code is broken.

I was about to renew my subscription, but cannot do so if the database is going to go up and down like this. The site is absolutely dependant on the database, and if this is a common problem (certainly recently there are many similar comments on the forum about other servers going down)

exactly how common is this? if the mysql server is down, it is just as catestrophic to me as if the web server was down.

Yes 07 appears to be down right now. My forums are not responding but the rest of my site is fine. This seems to happen at least once every couple months that I notice. It could be more frequent.

this is very bad news for my project :(

do powweb give figures for uptime of their mysql servers? I would be happy to use a second database on a seperate server to mirror, but if all the servers are going down together this is not going to help much

I don't think multiple servers go down at the same time very often. People usually post right away when they're having issues so other users know what's up and down when.

You could contact support and ask for a MySQL uptime stat...I'd be interested in hearing that stat myself :D

First I find that my website is empty, database is down, then the whole website is down... any news as to what is happening?

I have had more downtime here than I did with my free host.

MySQL07 seems to be up now, just very very slow.

Ahh now it appears to be back to normal. I will admit that though outages do seem to happen every 6-8 weeks or so, they're always quite brief. I can't recall ever being down for anything close to an hour in the 3 years I've had my site with PowWeb.

Looks like it's down again?

Oh wait, no...my users were just complaining about pages not loading but now it's working...maybe just a glitch.
