Installing WordPress on top of existing web site

I installed WordPress successfully on an existing non-blog site through PowWeb's auto installer. And I've created new pages. But my web site still looks like the old site. Nothing has changed. My non-blog site did not turn into a WP blog. What did I do wrong?:confused:
