This is a general e-Commerce/physical store question.
I have never implemented an e-Commerce site but am working with a client to do this. The client has an arts and crafts store and has been "taking a hit" in sales from a new Michael's crafts store just 1/2 mile away. Their accountant has suggested they look into e-Commerce as an additional outlet for their product.
Someone here must have some experience or insight into a question I have.
How do merchants manage in-store inventory with e-store inventory. My client (and I suspect many merchants who have a physical store and an e-Commerce store) will use their in-store inventory to fill e-store orders. A lot of e-commerce products check inventories and present the presence of product on the web site. Do most e-commerce products (such as osCommerce) allow merchants to constantly update inventory numbers? Any additional insight in inventory control?
Thanks!
