I have had video clips in the WMV format on www.spindelsportsacademy.com working fine in the past. When I installed my new ISP Verison, for some reason, the combination of Verizon, Windows XP home addition and Norton Anti Virus and Norton Internet Security, one of these is treating the video clips as pop ups and blocking it from playing. So, I took off the video clips until I can figure a way around it. What is puzzling however, is I can view other fitness video clips from several other sites with no problem. Therefore, I dont know if it is the format that my clips are in or not. This is the format that works fine before Verizon and my new computer with XP home addition. If anyone can shed some light on this, I would be greatful. Thanks in advance. Allen

One solution is not to use pop ups, rather to embed the video player:

Sounds great. Please understand I am still a newbee and don't really know how to embed the video player. Based on what I copied and pasted, can you correct my code (actually the code someone else sent me and I just use) so I can not embed it. Would be so much appreciate that. :D

If someone can help me re-configure the HTHM code so I don't have to embed the code and it wont be read as a pop up, I would be eternally grateful. Many of the other fitness sites have video clips that my computer can read so I must change my own code. Thanks in advance. Allen

To embed the media file in your web page insert the following tag into the HTML where you want the player to appear.
<embed src="yourfile.wmv">
If your file is hosted off-site, use the full URL
<embed src="http://domain.com/yourfile.wmv">
Here's a more fancy version that sets the size, border and alignment of the player.
<embed src="yourfile.wmv" width="360" height="285" align="center" style="border: 2px solid #808080; "><noembed>Media Player is required.</noembed>
Rick, this is your code to embed the video from a previous post. Can you compare it to my code.. below.. which is being read as a pop up and tell me how to change it to embed the video so it will play on my server. Again, I cant play my own videos on www.spindelsportsacademy.com (video clips off for now) but can play other fitness sites video clips.
My current code below...my files are hosted on powweb site in the folder section of front page 2003.

If anyone can help, again, I would really appreciate it. I begin a new project for school in 2 weeks and will be showing these videos to the administration and want to make sure that the schools server also does not read them as pop ups. I am beginning to develop a "distant learning" fitness curriculum whereby I teach and up to 5 schools can participate live. I will then record those lesson plans and post the video clips on my site for other schools to view and if they are interested, they too will sign up for the distant learning program. I am a master teacher but newbee web designer lol

Here is an example of another web site that does play on my server.
Can anyone help me figure out how to get my code to read the same as this code so I can play the videos. Thanks. :confused:

If this fries your brain try embeding with Frontpage itself.
Add a video: You can add a video to your page. You can add any type of video that can be played by the Windows Media Player.
In Page view, position the insertion point where you want to insert a video.
On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Video.
If the video clip file is not in a web, click the File button .
Browse to the video file and select it.
Tip - If Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed on your computer, you can click the Preview tab to preview the video.
Note - Some Web browsers do not support video.

Wow, thats what I am talking about. Yes, my brain and eye balls are fried just reading it once. :D I will probably read it about 10 times then copy and paste it. As you also mentioned, I will attempt to embed it into front page with another different video and compare the results. Thanks so much, I knew I could count on you as you were the one who helped me several months ago when I just began building my video clips. Thanks again, and if I have any questions or get stuck, hope you dont mind if I give you a ring back. Allen

Hi Croc Hunter,
I copied and pasted the code you sent me and this is what came up on the link below. I am sure I did something wrong, but can't seem to figure it out. Can you tell from my code and my link? Thanks. Allen

Frontpage.. ugg.
Use Insert> Picture> Video. As suggested above it's much simpler.

Hi Croc Hunter
Thanks. I did infact insert the video clip directy into the front page code section and it did in fact play. However, it took almost 5 minutes to load. I then re-copied and pasted your code into front page code section and made sure the video clip was labeled in front page the same way it was labeled in the folder section called Video. Still, it did not load and in fact, did not display the windows media box. I am not one to give up so easy, but this is really puzzling me. Is there anyway you can check out my site on the server if I give you my password and see what silly error I am making as I am sure it is a small oversight on my part. Thanks. Allen

The Frontpage method works for you so stick with it. To reduce the 5min you need to reduce the movie's actual filesize. This will mean a lesser quality clip so you have to find a happy medium. Also be sure autoStart=true so it will buffer then start playing before the whole movie is downloaded.

Do you mean this method that you gave me? Where whould I put the autoStart=true?
Thanks. Allen

Yeah do that, then right click the movie> properties. check the tabs out. You'll see a start on file open option and an option to add a lower resolution (filesize) version or your movie. Upload then give us the link to page and we'll check it out.

This is the web site that has windows media video clips that plays well and fast download on my ISP. My friend who is the web master told me to right click the page near the link and copy and paste the html code and try it. Can someone varify if the code is correct and which section of the html code I should copy. Since I use front page, I am not sure what part of the code. I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Allen

Okay, here it is. I am like an everyready battery, I just keep going and going.
I have a request for somenone who would like to help. Here are two links of video clips that play on my ISP and my school's ISP. If someone could just highlight which part of the code I should use, I would them copy and paste it into my front page web site and would be finished with this video clip nightmare. Here are the links and when I right clicked the page, too much html came up for me to figure out which part of the code to copy and paste. I have permission from both web masters to use their code. Thanks in advance who ever wants to help me complete this. Allen
