so these are the two i am down to debating which one to use... anyone have any extremely positive or negative experiences with either?

how well do they do if you integrate them into a cms system such as mambo as that's eventually what my site will be.

Well, I have cube cart running, and I have to say, it was easy to install, modify (theme), and add products. The integration of shipping / payment modules is very nice and easy. For a small shop, I think it might be the way to go.

Now, for the bad, the product options is not an easy thing to deal with. I think it is tedious to deal with, but doable. The flexability is not what I expected, although I didn't play with the other commerce packages for a long time before making my choice.

I am still playing with my shop, trying to get the options set up smarter, so it is in shambles right now, but feel free to check it out. http://shop.northeastatvers.com It should give you an idea of what you can do.

All in all, I think cube cart was the easiest to get up and running. Small, simple, and overall, very easy to use.

thanks so much... since this post I have decided to use mambo as my cms and cannot see anyway to integrate cube into mambo.. so i will be trying one of theirs first and see how they go

thanks so much for the advice tho.. my store is small but i would like to expand eventually and need a lot of flexibility with shipping rates ideally.
