CONFUSED! about domain name

hi i purchased this webspace, i beleive without a domain, i later brought another domain (not from powweb) which is wwww.chaintrax.co.uk and pointed it to the temp URL that was issued given to me by powweb, this works fine but my powweb space seems to think its a .com!. I can't access web stats or my powweb email and i can't get my CGI scipts to work, i know that i carelessly messed up somewhere down the line and now im in a pickle. :confused:

You shouldn't be 'pointing' it to the URL. You should log into 123-reg and change the nameservers to ns3.powweb.com and ns2.powweb.com

Did you name the domain when you bought the space? If you included the domain name when you purchased the package then you may have included the www (note there are usually 3 'w's not 4) This would 'break' things even if you do the first thing I suggested.

Your temp URL is just that, temporary. Powweb mail won't work because the nameservers haven't been pointed to powweb. (See my first suggestion.)

You need to decide, do you wish this domain to be the main domain on the package? (or did you ask for a free one as well?). You should e-mail support and ask them to change the main domain on the package (free for a new package - once!) if you used a different domain when you registered for the package/web-space.

billing@powweb.com is the support address to use in this case.

nice one!!!! i have changed the name servers and they will take 24 hours to change, should i except my forms and emails to work now?

thanks for the helpIt can take more than 24 hrs - but after that you should expect your website to be available via the new site.

E-mails will work if you set that up in OPS, as for forms, you may need to do other things.
