One of my web sites has exceeded it's bandwidth limit 3 times this week. The site is dreamer2313.com - It's a site that has been around for a few years and has shown gradual growth. I mainly host pictures there - just a hobby to learn a little more about web sites. Anyway, in the past I have handled the growth by compressing file size, moving files to one of my other sites and on occassion, blocking excessing hot linking. Recently it has started growing so fast that I can't keep up, so as a "short term" fix I wanted to block the 2 largest bandwidth thieves. For some reason I am not having much luck. Here is my htaccess file.
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.totalfark.com/" BadReferrer
order deny,allow
deny from env=BadReferrer
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.http://www.mma.tv/" BadReferrer
order deny,allow
deny from env=BadReferrer
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.http://www.myspace.com/" BadReferrer
order deny,allow
deny from env=BadReferrer
The 2nd and 3rd on the list are the ones I'm after at the moment. "mma" always has more after the tv/ which I tried, but it doesn't work and I think everyone knows "myspace". Any help would be appreciated....regarding this stuff I'm very much a "novice" and I have checked out the "faqs", etc., but I'm missing something.
These two are taking about 40% of my bandwidth.
Total unique visitors in November was over 90,000 with 6,000,000 hits and so far this month, even with times of being disabled, I'm headed toward about 120,000 visitors. Thanks in advance for any help.
