I'm changing from a "turnkey" online store solution (1and1) to a cart/host system.
I want to get up and running quickly, and I'm not a coder, and have limited html experience.
Has anyone installed Zen Cart recently, since the 777 change?
I've been surfing through the threads here and at Zen Cart.
I've read some on oscommerce, and it seems some indicate that may be a bit complicated.
Is there an "oscommerce for dummies" thread, or a step by step setup thread? I've seen Jade Dragon's thread....
Are there store front templates available for oscommerce? I don't want to start from ground zero, meaning from blank pages.
I guess, the bottom line is, I'm a beginner at this
... and OsCommerce seems like it may be a bit complicated

Zen Cart is a lot easier to use than OSCommerce.

I'm new here, but not at the Zen Cart community. I'm not really sure what you mean by the 777 change, if you could explain to me I'd appreciate it.

The "777 change" (where PowWeb no longer allows you to set "everyone can write" protections on folders) does not affect Zen Cart. 700 is the protection you should use if you want the cart to be able to write files.

Thanks for that info stevel, I rely so much on Zen Cart I was afraid I couldn't host PowWeb for that reason. So no problems at all using Zen Cart because of this implementation?

I can't imagine how there would be. 700 gives the Zen scripts all the permissions they can use.
