My site was uploaded by my webmaster last Monday, so therefore I do not have access to the FTP files. I had to change my DNS to Powweb which I did.

The problem is that everyone else can see my website except for me!!! It was suggested to me to lower my security settings on my computer, disable the firewall, and disable the anti-virus temporarily. None of this worked. I tried to access the site on another computer that I have and I can't access on that either. When I type in my address, I get a message that says I am "unauthorized to view the page". It says that I "might not have permission to view the directory or pages using the credentials I supplied". What kind of credentials are supplied to enable (or disable) me to use my own site?!

I'm sure that many of you will click on my web address at the end of this e-mail and will find that you can access the site. But I need to know and understand AND FIX why I cannot access the site myself.

Any help that anyone can give is very much appreciated! I have been told it's not my computers but the web host. I already have an e-mail in to tech support but have not heard anything yet. I am getting to the point where I feel like the site knows it's me.... and won't let me in. :-/ I don't know enough about writing programs to figure this out and my webmaster is clueless.

ANYBODY... PLEASE HELP!!!!

As you forecasted...I can see it. It does take a while once you change the DNS for it to go through the web (24-48 hrs). Right now, I'm on the west coast for business and can see it here.

It seems like you tried a few things. If possible...download the most current version of your browser (IE or Netscape). Older versions may not be able to view your site (though I don't see why not).

Bascially, last resort is to download lastest version of browser and wait for support with reply.

Good Luck

I too can see your site just fine and I'm in North Dakota.

I really doubt that this has anything to do with the "host" as you were told. It is most likely a DNS propagation factor and your ISP has not refreshed their DNS database yet.

I have seen it take 2 weeks sometimes for the DNS database to propagate to some ISP's. They (the ISP) have options as to how often they update,

Thanks for responding.

I changed my DNS but that was last Monday. :-( I can't imagine why it would be the browser but I'm trying everything and anything at this moment.

I have a new Dell computer with XP... since January and it has all the lastest programs on it. I have a Belgian friend try to access the site on a computer with XP that he just got last week and he had no problem either. :-( My other computer is not as updated as this one but it's having the same problem also.

Do you think it could have anything to do with the FTP files, etc.?

oh boy, North Dakota Geezer... you're using some unfamiliar and big words there... :-)

... a "DNS propagation factor"??? and ISP has not refreshed my DNS database yet?

So... I should contact my ISP (who is not listed on my DNS) to find out about the propagation?

Please help and advise.... :-)

LOL.... ok I'll see if I can explain a bit better.

When you changed your DNS, it was input into a database that has to be picked up by every ISP (Internet Service Provider) so that when anyone who is using their system types in a web address it will know where to send them.

It's kind of like needing a phone book to be able to find a phone number.

This DNS database travels (or propagates) around the Internet at different speeds. It depends entirely on how often the ISP's update or refresh their copy of it. Most will refresh every 24 hours, but some choose to only do so once a week.

This is why I can view your site, but other people using a different ISP can not.

If you know anyone who is using the same ISP as you, have them check for your site. If THEY can see it and you still can not, then you have something amiss within your system.

Does that help a bit?

It helps TONS!!! Thank you for explaining it in English for me...
I'll see if I can find someone to view it for me or I'll contact the ISP directly... they're close by. I sure hope that's what it is...

Keep you posted...
