hi, for the last 6 months or so I've designed several websites as a freelancer hoping to gain experience as a web designer and to build up my resume.....I am also a comic book artist and flash animator. I'm really interested in all 3 fields and have submitted my resume several times to several companies and received no replies in return. Ideally I would love to be getting paid to draw comics but thats a harder goal to achieve. At this point in time I am looking for any job related to the field of web design that I may be qualified to do. If anybody can give me some concrete advice on how to get a position in the industry, I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking for any advice on what I should learn or be learning, what to put on my resume, how to make a portfolio, how to contact a company, pretty much anything and everything. It would be great if you could share your experiences and stories as well.....Thanks to all that reply!!!

My oldest is also an artist who'd love to work in comics, and advice given to him was to try the smaller publishers first. Apparently they are more willing to consider applications such as what you'd send in.

I'm 31, and from my experience, it's all about experience. what can you do? if you say you can do it, do you have proof? or reference?

if I could start over, I'd stick with one thing that I like and never change. don't try too many things, just become good in one area.

good luck.
