View Full Version : Irq Problems?????
I have trouble when using my HP 5700 Inkjet printer. It locks up my USB mouse as soon as I try to print something, causing me to have to reboot my computer. I check my System Information under Hardware Resources/IRQ's, and it shows that IRQ 12, which I thought was reserved for PS 2 mouse, is using the PCI Bus apparently. It shows: ACPI, 2 Rev 5 VIA USB host controller, VIA AC'97 Audio Controller, PCI Nic ethernet, and Radeon 7000 graphics adapter using the IRQ 12. I thought these should be used by the IRQ 9. I am running Windows XP OS. Any help would be appreciated.

It can be the mouse or it can be open for other things.

You may find you cannot manually change your IRQ settings (the Use automatic settings will be greyed out), this is usually related to the ACPI function used by Win XP.
To resolve conflicts IRQ settings, try manually setting them in your motherboard's BIOS. Or you can reinstall hardware like a NIC card, if you have another open slot to reinstall it and that is the thing using the IRQ setting you want available.
I had a problem with too many USB things connected to one computer. A scanner, a web cam, a digital camera and a printer where the scanner and the digital camera both wanted to be on the same setting. I eventually moved some of the stuff to another computer! :D
