I am currently planning on getting a new computer and I am very interested in possibly getting a MAC....I've never owned one before and don't have much experience with them but from what I know they are the best thing for handling multiple programs and graphics....I would like to know wht you guys recommend? I am currently looking into the new Intel Core Duo Macs but maybe I should go with something less experimental...if you could go into detail about your experiences with the Mac and which one you think is best suitable to meet a web designer/animator's needs I would greatly appreciate it....Thanks!

I use a fully loaded G4 for my music studio and in house aps, but a PC exclusively for anything web related.
is there a specific reason you use PCs for anything web related?
I'd wait to buy one of the new Intel Macs. Apple is notorious for fixing many bugs/issues with Revision A releases with the Revision B speed bumps. What are you wanting to use the Mac for? If it's just basic web development applications, I'd suggest buying a Mac Mini and a KVM so that you can share your existing monitor.

yeah im interested mainly in web development, and artwork, photo editing
IE for Mac was pathetic attempt at a web browser. Luckily, Microsoft discontinued it and no longer offers it as a download.
Safari does a fairly good job with most sites, but by far I have the best luck using Firefox or Camino.

hmmm....At the moment I have access to two PCS so maybe having a Mac would be best so I can get a better perspective of how both types work and get an understanding of their weaknesses....right now im debating on whether to get an Imac G5 or a Power Mac G5.....any suggestions?
Based on what you said you wanted, I'd opt for the iMac. I really like its all-in-one design and small footprint. If you end up not liking to use it for development, it'll make a great media center. ;)

right now I work from a dell laptop which is almost incapable of handling multiple programs or tasks so I probably would be blown away by the imac...I don't have much to compare it to so I couldn't really complain that much in the end...if it allows me to have flash, photoshop, and fireworks open all at the same time without any or minimal lag time or program failure then I would be more then satisfied....the only thing that scares me about the imac is that its not upgradeable....but historically all of the comps I have had usually stop working before I have the money or time to consider upgrading them...or they are just so far behind in technology that it doesn't seem worth upgrading....thanks for the advice....
